PROPAGATION FROM MY QTH
This is John G7JTT/P operating from his car, on a high spot near Owslebury (SU550262) SE of Winchester. His pictures were even better earlier when he was beaming directly at me. (The received colour was ok but my off-screen shots come out best in black & white!)

G7JTT/P

Here are 2 more recent off-screen pictures taken of John when he was operating from the same site during the Summer Fun 2001 BATC Contest on 10th June. These pictures were received on 23cms, but John was also fully operational on 70, 13 and 3cms.
Giles, G1MFG, of the SCART Club, was also out portable for the whole contest on 70, 23 and 13cms. He was situated on Portisdown Hill near Portsmouth (sorry I haven't pictures).

Well done and thank you to both John and Giles for doing so much to promote ATV activity in the area.

I am gradually building picture galleries of French stations contacted, Repeaters received during lift conditions and Locals.

These are 2 off-screen pictures showing typical reception (during 'flat' conditions) of my local repeater GB3AT near Winchester, built and run by members of SCART.

GB3AT GB3AT

This is what the terrain in my area looks like:
Propagation map
This map was produced by a DOS program called 'Geographic' by Andy Talbot, G4JNT, and modified for ATV users by Roy, G8CKN.
GB3AT, which is located on the SW outskirts of Winchester, is my nearest ATV repeater(on 23cms). The white arrow indicates my QTH, at NGR SZ157912.

Another part of the same program produces a specific path plot, as illustrated below.
Path Plot
This is the terrain between my QTH on the left and GB3AT on the right.
I placed the cursor, which follows the terrain, on a peak near the middle of the path. The figures at the lower centre refer to that point.

This is the path from me to the recently re-sited microwave beacons, like GB3SCS on 13cms, at Bell Hill in Dorset.
